Ferguson announces purchase of Davidson Pipe Company, Inc.

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Ferguson announces the purchase of Davidson Pipe Company, Inc., headquartered in Brooklyn, N.Y., in a stock transaction completed August 27, 2007.

Davidson is a leading wholesale supplier of pipe and tubing, valves, fittings and pipe accessories.  With over 100 years of experience in the industry, Davidson is a well-known company with unique expertise in its field.  The Wholesaler ranked Davidson as the sixteenth largest wholesale distributor of pipe, valves and fittings in the United States for 2007.  Additionally, Davidson is the only PVF distributor in the New York metropolitan area offering in-house fabrication and welding services, providing a one-stop-shopping experience to their customers.

In addition to the PVF segment, Davidson has two supplemental areas of business, Specialty Pipe & Tube, Inc. and Monotube Pile Corporation.  Specialty is a leading distributor of heavy-wall carbon and carbon alloy seamless pipe and tubing to a variety of industries including the energy sector.  Monotube is a distributor of tapered, fluted steel foundation piling to foundation contractors across North America.

“The potential for growth resulting from this combination is truly exciting,” said Peter Davidson, current president of Davidson.  “Given the extraordinary management skills and purchasing power of Ferguson, and the 100+ years of customer relationships earned by Davidson, we are greatly looking forward to an increased presence in each of our markets.”

Davidson will continue to lead the Davidson group as General Manager and will report directly to Robert Braig, Vice President of Industrial and Specialty Business Group for Wolseley’s North American Division.
